Don’t Get Catfished By Pest Control Software Companies

If you’re not familiar with it, “catfishing” is when you’re interacting with someone, but they are not what they appear to be. This can be true of pest control software companies too. They lure you in with their slick demos and “too good to be true” pricing, and then you end up spending countless hours investing in a fruitless relationship. Don’t think this can happen to you? That’s what one of our customers thought as well.

A while back, a competitor targeted one of our flagship customers. At first glance, their demo was impressive. In addition, this competitor made all sorts of lofty promises to our customer. For example, they offered significantly discounted pricing and promised to add functionality that was needed in order to make the software work for them. Before our customer even announced to us that they would be moving to our competition, the competitor was bragging about it at a trade show.

Well, fast forward to over six months later. After a lot of time and a significant amount of money invested on this “relationship,” our customer still wasn’t ready to go live. They came back to us. Needless to say, they remain a loyal customer of ours to this day.

According to a recent blog, there are a few signs to be aware of to tell if you are being catfished:

  • The relationship progresses quickly.

  • They ask for money.

  • They seem too good to be true.

Although these points relate to online dating, they are still applicable to pest control software companies vying for your business.

So, what should you do? Choosing the right pest control software provider can be daunting and you certainly don’t want to end up on the wrong side of a failed relationship.

  • Pricing– They may be the cheapest pest control software provider on the block, but that doesn’t mean they’re the best. You get what you pay for. Choosing software based on price alone could cost you a lot more in the future.

  • Scaling– Don’t just think about where your pest control business is today, but about where you want it to be in the next three to five years. You want to make sure that your pest control software provider grows with you instead of holding you back.

  • Support– Do they outsource their customer service? If so, they could be sacrificing quality of care and you might not get the attention you need in a timely manner.

Conclusion

Just like with online dating, some pest control software companies will literally say anything to get your attention and your business. But when you do your homework, you’ll be sure to find that perfect match.
